The East Kootenay Climbing Association (EKCA) is a-not-for-profit organization committed to fostering the growth of climbing in the East Kootenay Region of British Columbia. We were formed to help promote the safe, sustainable development and maintenance of climbing areas, while protecting cultural and environmental assets found there.

 

We intend to provide an open channel for communication between all stakeholders of the local climbing areas to ensure legal, ethical and uninhibited access. We also raise funds (mostly via government grants) for the purpose of  maintaining, enhancing and developing climbing areas. There is currently an ongoing retrobolting initiative at some of the older crags; as well as a bolt fund to support new route development.
